Doshisha University is committed to alleviating the financial burden of self-funded international students pursuing higher education. As part of this commitment, the university is offering an outstanding Merit Scholarship for 2023 entry international students

Studying full-time for an MBA is a considerable investment of time and
money, and applicants should be prepared for this commitment. In
addition to tuition fees, students will need to budget for accommodation
and living expenses, health insurance, travel, and other miscellaneous
costs

All successful international applicants* to our program for 2023 entry
are eligible for Doshisha University Merit Scholarships for Self-Funded
International Students.

This scholarship opportunity is available to students enrolling in an undergraduate program for the 2022 intake. Successful applicants will benefit from a tuition reduction ranging from 30% to 100%.

Established in 1875 by Joseph Hardy Neesima, Doshisha University has evolved into a renowned international center for high-quality higher education and cutting-edge research. The university boasts a diverse range of 14 faculties and numerous graduate schools, all equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and set in an inviting environment conducive to academic excellence.

All graduate and postgraduate degree program offered by Doshisha University

Eligibility criteria

  1. Those who have passed the entrance examination for international students and hold a “Student” resident status.
  2. Those
    who have passed the entrance examination for international students,
    and hold a certain status of residence such as “Permanent Resident”,
    “Long-Term Resident” and “Dependent” .
  3. Those who are enrolled in
    Doshisha University, regardless of type of entrance examination and who
    hold a “Student” resident status (*applicants’ eligibility will be
    preliminarily screened).
  4. Those who enrolled in the Institute for
    the Liberal Arts, the Global MBA Course or the International Science
    and Technology Course in or after the Academic Year 2014, and are
    qualified as recipients (*applicants’ eligibility will be preliminarily
    screened).

Graduate Students

The ratio of recipients in each category is as follows.

  1. Category S –> approximately 20 to 30% of international students
  2. Category A –> approximately 30 to 40% of international students
  3. Category B –> approximately 40% of international students

*The number of recipients varies according to each Graduate School.
*The reduction rate is determined by considering such factors as entrance examination results and research plans.

Undergraduate Students

The number of recipients varies according to each faculty or course.

Faculty of Culture and Information Science / Faculty of Science and Engineering /

Faculty of Global and Regional Studies

  1. Category S –> approximately 10% of international students
  2. Category A –> approximately 20% of international students
  3. Category C –> approximately 30% of international students

*A full tuition will be charged to approximately 40% of international students.
*The reduction rate is determined by entrance examination results.

Faculty of Global Communications Japanese Course / The Institute for the Liberal Arts

  1. Category S –> approximately 10% of international students
  2. Category A –> approximately 20% of international students
  3. Category C –> approximately 60% of international students

*A full tuition will be charged to approximately 10% of international students.
*The reduction rate is determined by entrance examination results.
*The scholarship amounts and categories for students of the Institute
for the Liberal Arts are the same as those for the faculties of Letters,
Social Studies, Law, Economics, Commerce and Policy Studies in the
separate table.

Application process

There is no need for a separate application for this scholarship, as all eligible candidates will automatically be considered upon successful enrollment in an eligible program.

Supporting Documents: Applicants should submit the following documents to ensure a successful application: Pre-qualification degree, academic transcripts and awards, certificates demonstrating English language proficiency, a personal statement, and a copy of their passport.

Admission Requirements: Admission requirements may vary depending on the specific course of study.

Language Requirement: Non-native English speakers applying for a bachelor’s program at the university must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The university may require qualifications such as TOEFL iBT or IELTS.
