The selected individual for this opportunity will collaborate closely with Dr. Richard Alorro at the WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering, located at Curtin University’s Perth Campus. The focal point of this PhD study involves the formulation of methodologies to effectively eliminate impurity metals from waste carbon materials, aimed at enhancing their utility in secondary battery applications. This project will be executed in partnership with an international collaborator. Prospective candidates should possess a strong foundation in extractive metallurgy, encompassing areas such as hydrometallurgy, leaching and separation technologies, as well as pyrometallurgy. Additionally, familiarity with mineral processing, chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials engineering is advantageous. Individuals with educational backgrounds in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or related fields are particularly encouraged to apply.
