Advanced internships at Getty for graduate Students in USA

The Getty Foundation is currently inviting applications for Graduate Internships available in four programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust: the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Research Institute, the Getty Conservation Institute, and the Getty Foundation, as well as in Getty Publications.

The Graduate Internship program provides training and work experience in
departments across Getty that prepare graduate students for visual arts
careers

These internships are open to students from all nationalities. The grant provides $47,500 for a twelve-month period, along with an additional $1,500 to cover relocation expenses for interns coming from outside the Los Angeles area. Please note that housing is not included. There is also support available for research travel, with funding of up to $2,500.”

Internship is offered to graduate students who intend to pursue careers in fields related to the visual arts. Training and work experience placements are available in areas such as curatorial, education, conservation, research, publications, information management, public programs, and grant-making.

To complete your application, you will need to compile the following materials:

1. Personal Statement: Your Personal Statement should not exceed 500 words (equivalent to two double-spaced pages). It should articulate how your selected Getty internship preferences (choose two, ranked by preference) align with your background and career objectives. Additionally, explain your rationale for choosing specific departments or programs for your internship. Describe your expectations for the experience and the contributions you anticipate making.

2. Resume/Curriculum Vitae: All applicants must provide their current resume, which should be limited to a maximum of five pages.

3. Transcript(s)/Academic Records: We require transcripts or academic records for your completed undergraduate degree(s) and graduate degree(s) if applicable. If you have multiple transcripts, please merge them into a single PDF before uploading. Please note that we may request official hard copies of transcripts or academic records at a later stage of the evaluation process.

   • If your educational institution is located outside of the United States, you can substitute transcripts with evidence of completed courses and/or copies of diploma(s).
   • If you are currently enrolled in a graduate program, provide proof of your current enrollment, such as your most recent transcript or academic record.

4. Letters of Recommendation (2): Applicants are required to secure two confidential letters of recommendation, which should be submitted directly by their recommenders through the application system.
